Dr. Julius Nzeve is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Sciences and the Dean, School of Agriculture, Environment and Health Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from Kenyatta University. He is an Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Audit Lead Expert, registered with National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and Environmental Institute of Kenya (EIK). He also has professional training in wetland science and management, and senior management training from Kenya School of Government.
Dr. Nzeve’s research interests revolve around environmental sustainability that includes: environmental pollution, water quality monitoring, aquatic resources management and wetland science. He has over 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals here. He has been involved in various research projects that include: Evaluating Costs and Benefits of Prophylactic Health Products and Novel Alternatives on Smallholder Aquaculture Farmers in Asia and Africa (2017-2019) funded by Biotechnology & Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), United Kingdom; Management and Use of Sewage water in Machakos town and its implication to Human Health (2018-2019), and the Effects of Artisanal Gold Mining on Heavy Metal Contamination in Migori County, Kenya (2020 -2021). Dr. Nzeve is currently a principal investigator in a research project on the Assessment of the levels of Environmental Carcinogens and Life Style Cancer Risk Factors in Makueni County, Kenya (2023-2024). Additionally, He has ten years’ experience of university teaching and over 20 years of community service in the field of aquatic resources management.
