Egerton University Benchmarks at Machakos University on E-Procurement and Technical Management

Machakos University hosted a delegation from Egerton University on Friday 12th September, 2025, for a benchmarking session on Technical Management and E-Procurement Services. The meeting, held at the staff lounge, reinforced MksU’s reputation as a frontrunner in modern procurement systems and institutional resource management.

A delegation from Egerton University, led by Mr. Peter Mutevu, Head of Procurement, and Mr. Stephen Kibet, Head of Management Hotel, paid a visit to Machakos University. They were warmly received by their counterparts, Ms. Alice Njeri, Head of Procurement, Mr. Joseph Katumo, Administrator – APF, and Mr. William Orondo, Hotel Manager.

Machakos University shared practical insights into its e-procurement system and technical management practices, demonstrating how the university has leveraged technology to improve efficiency, transparency, and cost-effectiveness.

Egerton University’s team expressed appreciation for the depth of knowledge shared and held constructive discussions with MksU officials on adapting similar innovations to their context.

Among the key outcomes of the session were:

  • Agreement on a follow-up technical visit by Egerton University’s team for a hands-on system demonstration.
  • Formation of a joint technical committee to explore collaboration on implementation strategies.
  • Development of a comprehensive benchmarking report to guide Egerton University’s modernization efforts.

The engagement highlighted the value of peer-to-peer learning and inter-university collaboration in strengthening institutional systems. Both institutions expressed commitment to sustaining the partnership for continued growth and excellence.
