Ajira Digital Club Equips MksU Students with Digital Marketing and E-Commerce Skills

The Ajira Digital Club at Machakos University successfully concluded a comprehensive two-day training workshop on Digital Marketing and E-Commerce held from 18th to 19th, September at the university’s Jitume Lab.
The training, led by the Club’s Vice Chairperson, Mr. Soud Fuad, and supported by MksU Ajira team, was designed to equip members with essential knowledge and practical skills to thrive in the digital economy. The sessions were facilitated by Ms. Annie Kiruja, an official Ajira Digital Program trainer.
The primary goal was to build digital literacy, raise awareness of online opportunities, and enhance members’ readiness to confidently engage in the digital workspace.
Day One: Awareness and Introduction to Online Work
The first day laid a crucial foundation, focusing on the fundamentals of safe and productive online work. Key topics covered included:
- Introduction to Ajira: A deep dive into how the Ajira Digital Club operates and the tangible benefits of being part of its community.
- The World of Online Work: An exploration of what online work entails, its significant advantages, and its transformative impact on individuals locally and globally.
- Digital Safety: A critical session on identifying and avoiding online scammers, empowering members to distinguish legitimate platforms from fraudulent ones.
- Professional Branding: A practical guide on creating and optimizing a professional profile on platforms like LinkedIn to enhance employability.
- Hands-On Registration: Members received step-by-step guidance on creating their own Ajira accounts, a direct gateway to opportunities.
Participants were also briefed on the key benefits of club membership, which include access to free training, mentorship from experienced digital professionals, networking opportunities, and direct connections to remote job opportunities through trusted partners like KEPSA.

Day Two: Skill-Building in Digital Marketing & E-Commerce
The second day shifted to a more hands-on, skill-focused curriculum, delving into the dynamic fields of Digital Marketing and E-commerce. Members were introduced to:
- The core principles and strategies of effective Digital Marketing.
- An overview of E-commerce and its growing significance in the global marketplace.
- A guide to credible online platforms where they can find remote jobs and projects related to digital marketing and e-commerce.
The two-day training was highly impactful, successfully equipping Machakos University students with vital knowledge for safe online engagement, professional networking, and practical digital skills. The event reinforced the Ajira Digital Program’s core mission of creating sustainable work opportunities for the youth by connecting them to a reliable digital ecosystem.
