A vision for better student living

For years, MksU has been committed to improving the quality of life for its growing student population.  The growing numbers also brought an increase in expectant students and adolescent mothers, with many students facing barriers in continuing their studies due to societal stigma, lack of resources, and inadequate support systems.

Machakos University recognizing the need for students to stay in school during and after pregnancy, access to healthcare and support services and protection from discrimination, the NHC stepped in with crucial seed funding, enabling the university to build a state of the art crèche facility designed to offer a safe specious and conducive environment with trained staff who supervise the children and ensure their well-being with flexible drop off and pick up times making the facility convenient option for both student and staff with varying schedules.

During the tour, Mr. Bett and his team inspected the facility and expressed their satisfaction with the project’s impact. The collaboration between MksU and NHC goes beyond bricks and mortar; it’s about investing in the future of young minds. This strategic partnership has paved the way for the development of modern, affordable, and comfortable accommodation for students. Once the hostels are completed, they will:

  • Increase accommodation capacity
  • Enhance student comfort with modern amenities
  • Boost academic performance by providing a peaceful living environment

As the university continues to expand, it seeks more partnerships with government agencies, private sector players, and development partners to further enhance infrastructure and student welfare.
