Courtesy Visit by CUE Representatives to Machakos

The Commission for University Education (CUE), through a special initiative under the Office of the Chief Executive, has embarked on a nationwide tour to document and highlight internationalization success stories in Kenyan universities. As part of this effort, a team from CUE visited Machakos University on 14^th April 2025, for an interview session with University officials and stakeholders.

The visit was part of a broader campaign to compile content for the upcoming issue of Varsity Digest Magazine, under the theme “Internationalizing Kenyan Universities for Global Growth.” This edition aims to showcase how institutions across Kenya foster global connections through international academic programs, foreign student enrollment, and intercultural collaboration.

During the visit to the University, the CUE team comprising of Grace Gathethe, Hudson Nandokha, and Andrian Mugambi met with representatives of the University to collect data and insights.

The CUE team specifically focused on understanding the University’s current internationalization efforts, including the development of cross-border academic partnerships, and the integration of global perspectives in its curriculum and research initiatives.

Universities participating in this project will have their success stories featured in Varsity Digest Magazine, a publication circulated widely among education stakeholders.

The team there after visited the Luban workshop and had a one-on-one with students and lecturers who had participated in international activities.

This exercise will culminate in the release of the next edition of Varsity Digest. The edition is expected to serve as a powerful platform for universities like Machakos University to gain visibility on national and international platforms
