Lavender Akinyi Testimonial on the Machakos University Chancellor’s Scholarship

I am deeply grateful to the Chancellor’s Scholarship of Machakos University for the unwavering support it has provided toward my education since my second year, enabling me to continue my studies without the constant financial burden. As the firstborn in a family of eight, it has always been a challenge for my family to raise the funds for my education, especially considering our financial struggles. I used to find it difficult to balance my academic responsibilities with the need to seek financial assistance, often applying for county bursaries without success. I was unsure how I could continue my education, but the scholarship came through.

When I began my journey as a first-year student, my home community came together and held a Harambee to support my education, but the funds raised were not sufficient to cover the full cost of my five-year course. Despite these challenges, I remained determined to pursue my dream of earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering where I performed well in my first year’s grades and I applied for the Chancellor’s Scholarship, and through my hard work and dedication, my application was successful.

The scholarship has been a lifeline, not only alleviating the financial strain on my family but also allowing me to focus entirely on my studies and career goals. It has been a game-changer, offering me the chance to continue my education with renewed hope and determination. I am now able to chase my dreams without the constant worry of financial constraints. The support I’ve received from the Chancellor’s Scholarship has made a significant difference in my academic journey, and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to continue my education without worry. It has been a critical factor in helping me work towards achieving my dreams and has given me the strength to push through any challenges I face.
