Machakos University Holds Induction for New Staff, PSC Interns, and Graduate Apprentices

Machakos University, through its Human Resource Department, successfully conducted an induction programme for new staff, PSC interns, and graduate apprentices at the Senate Room, Pioneer Building. The event took place on the 28th of May and featured a structured series of activities aimed at familiarizing new entrants with the university’s operations, values, and expectations.

Welcoming and Orientation
The programme commenced with an opening prayer led by Ms. Annah Mbiti, followed by an introduction session facilitated by Ms. Rose Matolo. Dr. Humphrey R. Omondi, the Registrar (Administration and Planning), delivered welcoming remarks on behalf of Prof. Mugendi K. M’Rithaa, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration, Planning, and Finance) highlighting the significance of the induction and the strategic role of new staff in upholding Machakos University’s commitment to academic excellence. He emphasized Machakos University’s vision as a “global centre of excellence” and its mission to provide scholarly excellence in research, innovation, and community engagement

Dr. Omondi led the core induction session covering the following key topics:

Following this, Ms. Rose Matolo delved into human resource matters, addressing:

Administrative and Security Briefings
Ms. Jane Njeri presented on Records Management, guiding the participants on documentation protocols and institutional data handling. A critical session on security matters was presented by Mr. Jacob Mutava, who elaborated on campus safety policies, emergency procedures, and the role of staff in maintaining a secure environment.
Virtual Tour and Closing
Participants were then taken through a Virtual University Tour, facilitated by Mrs. Rose Matolo, which familiarized them with various facilities, departments, and digital platforms within the university. A vote of thanks was issued by one of the new staff members, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome and comprehensive orientation. The session concluded with a closing prayer led by Ms. Joyce Mulu.
