MACHAKOS UNIVERSITY HOLDS INTERDENOMINATIONAL PRAYER DAY

Machakos University fraternity gathered for Interdenominational Prayer Day held on 15th April 2025 at the University Amphitheatre, to seek God’s guidance, express gratitude, and reaffirm their collective commitment to the values of love, compassion, and community. The event, organized for all students and staff, was anchored on the theme drawn from Ephesians 4:16, “Anchored in the Lord: Prospering Together in His Love.”
Prof. Mugendi K. M’rithaa, Deputy Vice Chancellor-Administration, Planning and Finance, delivered the opening remarks on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joyce Agalo.
The presence of the management team signified the university’s leadership’s collective support for spiritual wellness as a cornerstone of holistic education.
In his address, Prof. Mugendi emphasized the importance of love, compassion, and meaningful interaction within the university community.
The prayer day featured inspiring musical performances by various choirs, including the University Staff Choir, the Seventh-day Adventist Choir, the Catholic Choir, and the Christian Union Choir, adding a rich spiritual ambiance to the event.

Bishop Peter Nthuki delivered the day’s sermon titled, “Turning a Hopeless Situation,” encouraging the congregation to remain anchored in faith through the following key principles for overcoming adversity:
- Staying connected to God
- Building meaningful relationships with others
- Living in obedience to God’s word, and
- Having unwavering faith in God

Special prayers were offered by both staff and student leaders for repentance, adoration, and thanksgiving, the student body, the Church, Machakos University, and its leadership. Pastor Simon Munyao led the congregation in interceding for parents and families, while Sheikh Anas Abdallah led in praying for the Nation, reflecting the University’s inclusive and interfaith commitment.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks and closing prayers delivered by Rev. Martin Kimeu, marking a spiritually fulfilling chapter for the university community.
