Machakos University Hosts Benchmarking Visit From Meru University

On Friday 15th April, 2025 Machakos University’s Luban Workshop had the honor of hosting a one-day benchmark visit from a delegation of staff from Meru University of Science and Technology. The visit marked a significant step in inter-institutional collaboration, as Meru University prepares to establish its own Luban Workshop focused on e-commerce, supported by a donation from Tianjin City Vocational College in China.

The visiting team from Meru University comprised key personnel from both the Administration and Academic departments.
The visit aimed to gather practical insights from Machakos Luban Workshop, which is centered on emerging technologies and serves as a model of excellence in integrating innovation into academic and technical training.
The visiting team was received by senior leadership from Machakos University, including:
Prof. Mugendi K. M`rithaa, the Deputy Vice Chancellor-Administration, Planning and Finance representing Machakos University Vice chancellor Prof. Joyce Agalo, Dr. Humphrey Omondi, the Registrar-Administration and Planning, Dr. Erick Omuya, Chair-Department of Computing and Information Technology and Valarie Katemi, Head of Department Corporate Affairs and Public Relations.
During the benchmarking session, Meru University delegation explored several key areas of interest including: Infrastructure and layout of the Luban workshop, class delivery models, integration into academic programs among other areas.


Machakos University extends its best wishes to Meru University as it embarks on the establishment of its own Luban Workshop and looks forward to continued collaboration in promoting innovation, skills development, and academic excellence.
