Machakos University Hosts Chairpersons of Councils of Public Universities

Machakos University was honored to host the Meeting of Chairpersons of Councils of Public Universities on Wednesday, 7th May 2025, at the University Hotel and Conference Centre.
The prestigious gathering brought together Chairpersons officials from across Kenya’s public universities to deliberate on matters of national importance related to governance, strategy, and the advancement of higher education. The meeting was convened under the leadership of Prof. Daniel Mugendi, EBS, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Embu and Chairperson of the Vice-Chancellors’ Committee.
Machakos University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joyce Agalo, formally welcomed the dignitaries and expressed her gratitude noting that the University was honored to provide a platform for strategic dialogue among higher education leaders.
The forum provided a platform for consultation, collaboration, and exchange of ideas aimed at strengthening the role of public universities in the development of the country. Key issues discussed included policy alignment, financial sustainability, quality assurance, and the evolving role of university councils in a dynamic educational landscape.
