Machakos University has achieved a remarkable milestone by being ranked 8^th top university in Kenya in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, reiterating its growing reputation for academic excellence, impactful research, and global engagement.

The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings are among the most prestigious and comprehensive global university assessments. Institutions are evaluated based on a set of performance indicators grouped into five key areas:

• Teaching – the learning environment and quality of instruction
• Research Environment – research volume, income, and reputation
• Research Quality – citation impact, research excellence, and influence
• International Outlook – diversity of staff and students, and global research collaboration
• Industry – income and patents generated through innovation and partnerships
