Machakos University Shines at the 97th Kenya Music Festival.

Machakos University is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of its Student Choir at the 97th Edition of the Kenya Music Festival 2025, held in Meru County from 4th to 13th August 2025. With passion, talent, and cultural pride, the choir delivered thrilling performances that impressed both judges and audiences, bringing home top awards as follows:
Position 1– Class 880: Kamba Folk Dance “Kakwende na Wendo Mwa Twivotoane”
Position 2– Class 1020P: Kamba Traditional Dance “Nzoka ya Usini”
Position 3– Kamba Chant “Tututu-Niweta Tu”
Position 4– Sacred Songs “Bwana wa Mabwana Apewe Sifa” and “Ngai Mumbi Watumbie Isyitwa Yake Itaiwe”
Position 4– Tenor and Bass Solos

All presentations scored between 84% and 87% (Grade A), a clear testament to the skill, creativity, and dedication of the team. The Kenya Music Festival brought together thousands of talented performers from across the country, from primary and secondary schools, to colleges and universities-showcasing Kenya’s rich cultural heritage through music, song, dance, drama, and chants.
We celebrate our choir under the leadership of the Choir Patron, Ms. Betsy Nzuki, for their hard work, discipline, and exceptional artistry. You have flown the MksU flag high and made us proud!
