Machakos University shines at Vota Wellness Walk and Run

Under the golden sunrise of Machakos County, the vibrant spirit of Machakos University came alive as staff members gathered at Vota Ranch for the Vota Wellness Experience 40@40 Walk and Run on Saturday, 2nd August 2025.

Leading the charge was the University’s dynamic Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joyce Agalo, who, with a warm smile and unwavering determination, laced up her running shoes to champion the spirit of active living. She was joined by senior university officials, including Prof. David Mulwa (Ag. Registrar, RIL), Prof. Richard Kimiti, Prof. Robert Arasa, and CPA Francis Wambua, among other staff members — all united in promoting wellness as a lifestyle.

The Machakos University Staff Football Club brought their competitive edge to the event, enthusiastically participating in the 10km run. Running alongside the Vice-Chancellor, they demonstrated outstanding teamwork and resilience, their camaraderie evident in every stride.

The event’s highlight came as Mr. Peter Kivindyo, a proud member of MksU Staff FC, sprinted to victory, claiming 1st place in the Men’s 10km race. He was closely followed by Raphael Kioko and Thomas Kitheka. Thunderous cheers greeted their finish, with Kivindyo’s achievement standing as a testament to discipline, hard work, and the spirit of excellence that defines Machakos University.

Beyond medals and finish lines, the day was a celebration of community health, connection, and shared purpose. From brisk walkers enjoying the lush Vota trails to determined runners pushing their limits, every participant contributed to the vibrant energy of the event.

As the sun set on a day well spent, one truth stood out clearly: Machakos University doesn’t just talk about wellness — we live it. We are a family that sweats, strives, and succeeds together — not only in classrooms and lecture halls but also through meaningful co-curricular engagement that strengthens both body and spirit.
