Machakos University donates bales of Maize and Wheat flour to Machakos Women Prison

Students of Machakos University donated food worth thousands of shillings to Machakos Women Prison on 26^th May 2021. This was part of the University’s yearly corporate social responsibility. Speaking during the event, the Registrar in charge of Research, Innovation and Linkages, representing the Vice-Chancellor-Prof. Lucy Irungu mentioned that the University opted to extend a helping hand to the Women Prison because such facilities are in most cases forgotten especially during this hard time of COVID 19. He was accompanied by several University staff led by Mr. Adam Shisia – the Director in charge of Corporate Affairs, Public Relations and Marketing from the Vice-Chancellor’s office.

The donation was received by the CIP Madam Grace Atonya, representing the Officer in Charge of Machakos Women Prison, Madam Fair Beam Ombeva. She thanked the University for the donation and expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor- Prof. Lucy Irungu who is also a member of the Machakos Women Prison Discharge Board.
