Huawei ICT Competition 2023-2024 Award Ceremony

On Friday, March 15th, 2024, the Huawei ICT Competition 2023-2024 National Final Award Ceremony illuminated the tech landscape with brilliance and innovation. Distinguished guests, including Hon. Dr. Ezekiel Machogu, Ministry of Education Cabinet Secretary, Prof. Stephen Kiama, Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi, Mr. Gavin Gao, CEO of Huawei Kenya, Dr. Alexandros Makarigakis, Unesco East Africa Director Representative, Ms. Donna Rege, Senior Manager of IT Business & Governance at Safaricom PLC, and Machakos University Vice Chancellor Professor Joyce J. Agalo, graced the occasion with their esteemed presence, adding prestige to the event.

Amidst the euphoria of the event, the spotlight rightfully shone on the exceptional students whose dedication and ingenuity propelled them to victory. Martin Mwiti and Brian Wakanene, students of Machakos University, emerged as shining stars in the network track, demonstrating unparalleled prowess. Mark Omaiko showcased his mastery in the Cloud track, while Salem Kim exhibited exemplary skills in the computing track, both proudly representing their alma mater.

In a heartening display of support, Machakos University Vice Chancellor Prof. Joyce J. Agalo attended the event, accompanied by esteemed Dr. Charles Mwaniki Dean School of Engineering and Technology, lecturers Mr. Duncan Kilungu and Mr. Erick Omuya from the School of Engineering and Technology, as well as Mr. Frankline Mutisya, Coordinator of Cloud Computing, and Mr. Daniel Ndolo, Head of the ICT department.

Furthermore, the accolades extended to Ian Omwenga, a student of Machakos University, who clinched the third prize in the network track, underscoring the institution’s steadfast commitment to nurturing talent and fostering excellence.
