Principal Secretary, State Department for Wildlife Engages Machakos University Community on the Nyota Empowerment Programme

Machakos University had the privilege of hosting the Principal Secretary for Wildlife, Silvia Museiya Kihoro, and delegation on 6th October 2025, as a venue for discussions on the Nyota Empowerment Program.

As part of the visit, the Principal Secretary paid a courtesy visit to Machakos University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joyce Agalo, where discussions focused on exploring potential areas of collaboration between the university and the State Department for Wildlife, primarily on youth empowerment, environmental conservation, and community development.

The interactive session held at the University brought together MksU students, staff, key stakeholders and the public to engage on opportunities for youth involvement in conservation, leadership, and sustainable development through the Nyota Empowerment Programme.

The Principal Secretary encouraged students to actively participate in the initiative, emphasizing the critical role of young people in driving positive change across the country.

The visit highlighted Machakos University’s role as a strategic partner and host institution for national youth-focused programmes, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing future leaders and promoting sustainable development.
