Sensitization of Non-Academic Staff on Citizens’ Service Delivery Charter

Theme: Enhancing Service Delivery Through Commitment and Accountability

Machakos University, in its commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and transparency, held a sensitization training on the Citizens’ Delivery Charter to all university members of the non-academic staff. The training, was meant to enhance the understanding of the citizen service delivery charter and reinforce their commitment to effective service delivery.

The event was officially opened by Dr. Humphrey R. Omondi the Registrar in charge of Administration and Planning representing Prof. Joyce Agalo the Vice Chancellor of Machakos University. In his opening remarks, Dr. Omondi encouraged participants to align their daily operations with the charter’s principles of efficiency, transparency, and customer satisfaction. He emphasized the significance of institutional accountability and the role each member of staff holds in actualizing the University’s citizen service delivery goals.

The training was facilitated by Dr. Margaret Nganu Machakos University Lecturer in the department of Business Administration & Finance who provided an in-depth session on the Citizens’ Service Delivery Charter, highlighting its role in guiding institutions toward transparent, efficient, and client-focused services. Dr. Nganu emphasized the need for all departments to align their functions with the commitments outlined in the charter to promote accountability and enhance public trust.

Complementing the session, Ms. Angelyne Mwabu Machakos University a Tutorial Fellow from the department of Business Administration & Finance delivered a detailed presentation on national values, principles, and code of conduct. Her session underscored the importance of, patriotism, integrity, equity, and professionalism in public service, calling on participants to embody these values in their daily operations.

The training equipped members of staff with practical knowledge and reinforced the University’s dedication to fostering a culture of service excellence, ethics, and responsiveness in line with Kenya’s national development agenda.

The training concluded with a call to action for all staff members to embrace the values of commitment and accountability in their service to students, partners, and the wider community. It reaffirmed the University’s dedication to upholding its core values of integrity, professionalism, and responsiveness in line with Kenya’s public service transformation agenda.
