TVETA Endorses Transformative Partnership Between Machakos University’s TVET Directorate and MPESA Foundation

Machakos University has received a significant boost in its efforts to enhance technical and vocational training following the official endorsement of a strategic partnership between its TVET Directorate and the MPESA Foundation by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA). The partnership seeks to establish a state-of-the-art TVET Centre at Machakos University, reinforcing the institution’s role in advancing skills development and employability among Kenyan youth.

The endorsement was made during a high-level courtesy visit by a delegation from Machakos University, led by Machakos University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joyce Agalo, to the Director General of TVETA, Mr. Timothy Nyongesa. The engagement was both productive and strategic, focusing on institutional growth, quality assurance, and the shared goal of improving technical education in the country.

A key highlight of the visit was the joint review of the quality audit report for the TVET Directorate. Both teams explored practical strategies to address the identified gaps and enhance service delivery and training standards. The discussions reiterated the importance of continuous improvement in line with regulatory frameworks and industry expectations.

In recognition of the University’s progress, TVETA issued a letter of commendation, applauding the successful registration and licensing of 29 TVET courses. These programs currently support an impressive enrollment of approximately 1,500 trainees, a testament to the University’s commitment to delivering market-driven, inclusive, and accessible education.

The transformative partnership with MPESA Foundation will not only modernize training infrastructure but also increase access to high-quality technical education for learners across the region. It is a forward-looking initiative that aligns with Kenya’s development agenda and the aspirations of a dynamic youth population.

Together, Machakos University, TVETA, and MPESA Foundation are shaping the future of technical education in Kenya—empowering learners, strengthening institutions, and driving sustainable national development through innovation and collaboration.
